Co-Creators Wanted
Would you like to take an active role in creating the Remakery as an organisation, a workspace and a business?
Teams are forming around each of the areas below. Do you have expertise that could contribute to shaping one of these areas? And / or, are you interested in learning and gaining experience in one of these fields?
At the moment, the majority of work is voluntary, but there will increasingly be paid opportunities as the Remakery takes shape.

The emerging teams and their purposes are listed below. More information will be added about each team as these develop. Meanwhile, if you are interested in being part of a team contact the project manager, Hannah Lewis, to discuss how you could get involved: hannah@brixtonreusecentre.org
Workspace Team: to set up and manage co-working space for re-use enterprises
Currently part of the Steering Group's responsibilities (see Management and Governance Team below), but we are seeking co-creators with workspace management experience to provide guidance and practical input
Remakers Support Team: to provide business development support for re-use enterprises
Seeking team members with business support experience to provide guidance and practical input
Work, Skills and Training Team: to create opportunities for skill-sharing, training, work experience and employment
Team now forming – watch this space (new members welcome)
Marketing and Networks Team: to promote the Remakery’s services and grow its networks
Team now forming, focused primarily on the website but would welcome members with more general experience of marketing
Logistics Team: to collect and distribute re-usable resources
Team now forming, focused primarily on "back end" of website (information systems) but would welcome members with more hands-on experience of logistics such as warehouse or retail management
Sales Team: to sell reused products and materials
Seeking team members with experience of retail or online sales
Environmental Team: to monitor and optimise the Remakery’s environmental impacts
Seeking team members with experience of environmental monitoring (e.g. waste management, carbon monitoring)
Innovation Team: to develop innovative products and processes to increase re-use
Innovation activities are beginning to happen in the form of collaborations with Architecture for Humanity UK, LSBU Architecture students, and RCA Innovation Design Engineering students. However, a co-ordinating team has yet to form. We are seeking team members with a background in design (especially design for sustainability), engineering, R&D, and related disciplines; also those experienced in managing partnerships, for example with academic institutions, design agencies, and open innovation networks.
Development and Funding Team: to plan the Remakery’s development as a business and source the required funding
This team meets for a training session with a professional fundraiser, John Parman of Activation Institution, every Thursday evening – contact Hannah for details if you would like to join.
Management and Governance Team: to co-ordinate the other teams and steer the Remakery toward its agreed aims
This team, in the form of the Remakery Steering Group (soon to be reconstituted as a Co-operative), meets monthly. Meetings are open to all, but be warned, they can be a bit "dry" as they tend to focus on technical details of our planned building work and/or our legal structure! However, if you would like to meet the group you are very welcome. Contact Hannah if you would like to come to a meeting or join the Steering Group mailing list.
